What we collect and why

The free email course and our emails

When you sign up for The Third Way, we get your email address and, if you fill it in, your first name. We use them to send you the five course emails, then a few emails about the Shadow Report, and after that an occasional email from Julian. We do this because you asked for it, and you can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email.

We also keep a record of when and where you signed up, so we can show that you agreed to receive our emails.

Our emails tell us whether they were opened and which links were clicked. We use this to see which emails help people and to keep the list healthy. It works with a tiny image and with links that pass through our mail system. If you'd rather not be measured, set your email app to not load images.

Instagram messages

When you comment a keyword such as THIRD under one of Julian's Instagram posts, or send it in a message, a tool called Zernio sends you the link you asked for in a direct message. Zernio sees your Instagram username, your comment and whether you follow the account. We only use this to send you what you asked for.

Buying the Shadow Report

When you order a Shadow Report, we need your name, your email address and your birth date, birth time and place of birth. We use your birth details only to make your report, and your email address to send it and to answer questions about it. Payments go through Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We keep order and invoice details for seven years, because Dutch tax law requires it.

Booking a call

Free calls are booked through Cal.com. You give your name, your email address and anything you choose to tell us in the booking form. We use this to prepare for the call and to get in touch about it.

When you email us

If you reply to an email or write to us, we keep the conversation so we can answer you and pick it up again later.

Who helps us

We don't sell your data and we don't share it for advertising. A few companies process data for us, only to do their part of the work, under agreements that bind them to the GDPR.

Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the European Union, it is protected by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or by the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

Cookies

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Stripe and Cal.com use their own cookies on their own pages when you pay or book a call.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we have about you, to correct it, to delete it, to send it to you in a common file format, or to stop using it. You can also withdraw your consent for our emails at any time, which doesn't affect what we did before that. Email julian [at] julianstrong [dot] com and we'll answer within a month.

If you think we handle your data wrongly, please tell us first so we can fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data, we update this page and the date at the top.
